KTOPMUSIC: Press

When we heard that a group called KOUNTERTOP was going to open for
Foreigner, Kansas & John Waite...We said WHO?

I tell you what, the sound from these guys was awesome..PEOPLE in route to
get beer STOPPED WHAT THEY WERE DOING to listen to these guys play.

What a great way to lead into one of the nicest and most talented musicians
we have ever run across (John Waite)...Even John Waite made a comment on
stage: "WHO WERE THOSE GUYS?"

Great band, Great Kids (I'm Old), Great Music!

KOUNTERTOP vs KTOP....

Thursday nights just aren't Thursday nights without Kountertop. Their tight, smooth, playful, and energetic live performances are not to be missed. Scott, Nate, and Nick have fun doing their thing, and are successful in moving bar stool warmers, like myself, onto the dance floor...which is not always a pretty sight, but is a pretty good time.

What is missing from this cover band? Yes, originals. But that's why they have KTOP as well. The boys' originals are working their way up to being as catchy as the songs they cover, but a more solidified sound from the band would help them in that department.

These boys are charismatic and charming, funny, and talented, which is probably why many fans become their friends and drinking buddies. That is a rare occurrence in today's musical world. Scott, Nate, and Nick are entertainers, and regardless if they are playing covers or their own tunes, the show is one hell of a good time.

WONDERFUL! Rockin' out on the first listen!!
VERY SONIC. Awesome bass tone. Love it. So far so good.

Great production.

Vocals have too much reverb/effects on them but are very good.

Nice instrumental jams, love the THICK guitars!

Cool band.

I like the melody quite a bit. In fact, it's great. It's a bit predictable, but this song proves that predictable is OK if it's compelling, if it's good, and when the vocalist is a pleasure to listen to.

Great harmonies, CHILLS UP MY SPINE!! Builds the song wonderfully.

Here we are at the solo - judgement time - it works. The guitars get a 10 in the rest of the song and an 8 for the solo, it works but is not as special as the song as a whole.

Love the interplay between the guitars and bass.

KILLER!!
very full
production is awesome... i love the fullness of the sound, especially in to intro. It feels very circular. When the vocals come in...it feels very 3rd eye blind to me... with a little more of a punk sound. Toward the end the vocals get a little angrier..which is awesome, cuz i love the tone and emotion, which the harmonies definitely compliment too. The guitars are laid back and really strong. The drums seem very solid. I wish there was a breakdown maybe in the 3 1/2ish minute mark...something that just brings all the emotion to a climax: harder guitars, little more solos for drums and make the vocals intense..make a harmony be the main vocal or something. let whoever this song is about know it... and really feel it. awesome, awesome song. radio friendly. good job. love it and it's going in my playlist.
Really liking the breaks in the intro.
The verses are perfect .The back up vocals are probably the best i have heard on garageband.
I just think it misses out on the choruses the build "yeah fucking right" is really strong and then it just seems to loose all that momentum and goes back to the initial vibe. I would really liked to have heard a change in the rythm And a riff with that really powerfull distortion with some breaks like the intro.
Over all i like this, the punky vocals are interesting and that clean bass is sweet. Its to bad i didnt get to hear the drummer let loose. He sounds very good.Production is excellent.
Keep rocking sounds like things can only get better.
Catchy!
I can feel it; it's going to be one of those songs I can't get enough of....you know, those ones where you could write pages about how good the song is but find very little wrong with it?

Usually when I see a song is lengthy (as this one is) I get a bad feeling. There is nothing worse than a bad song going on for longer than it ever had business doing - but this song is not like one of those! This song has enough changes (all of which are memorable and catchy) that the listener never really uses interest.

The intro to this song is great; the solo bass part there is engaging. This is important for songs nowadays as people lose interest so fast! If it's going on the radio, it's gotta be good from second 1!

Vocals: holy talent, batman. Your vocalist has it goin on. The range you're singing in during this song is absolutely perfect for you. Every night is bang on. I flinch every time a high-ish notes is approaching thinking something is going to go terribly wrong but you always get it bang-on! The melody is also very catchy...nice nice nice!

I love the underlying guitar part in this tune, as well. You can hear it just enough that you love it but it's not so overpowering that it takes away from the rest of the awesomeness of the tune.

Ok, this song is amazing...definitely going into my bands to track!

This has truly been a pleasure. Thank you gentlemen!

ROCK ON!
Label music with a twist
Most of this song sounds like anything else out there, a move some bands make to play it safe and assure a contract. While I disagree with this theory on how to run a band, they do not completely embrace it. The guitar throws in some interesting changes, as well as the vocals which sometimes derive from the set path that you might expect. Good job, but I'd like to hear more of who this band is, not just who they're trying to imitate.
Tight
Killer guitar sound. Full and thick, well constructed sound. Everything sits so tightly together. Can tell this is a pro studio recording. The drums have a perfect sound. Every bass drum and snare hits the spot in exact precision. All the musicians here are excellent in their role.

I'm not sure how I feel about the singer. He's good, he's accurate, but there's something about his tone that bugs me a bit. He's a bit nasally on the verse. When he goes high on the chorus it's a bit better.

I love the way the guitars blend together, and I'm a sucker for octave riffs.

The change of beat towards minute 4 is very cool. Though maybe this song could be a little shorter. Maybe.

Overall, pretty powerful stuff. I reckon this is going into an album of some sort, so there's not much I can say about making changes here.
If I Could Buy This Sound In A Keg I'd Be Dru..
I really love this type of music. Almost (hear me out here) a Cure meets the gods of rock! Great bass playing, and I love the effected guitars. The vocals kind of reminded my of 311 initially but then settled into a sound all their own. I really digged the last song I reviewed but I got to give you guys the nod here. By the sway stereo panned guitar break...killer!
